Welcome to P.S. 18X, the John Peter Zenger School!
We are thrilled to begin another productive and exciting year. Here at P.S. 18X, my staff and I are dedicated to providing your children with an exceptional education rooted in our school’s unique identity. Inspired by the legacy of John Peter Zenger, a champion for truth and a free press, we empower our students to find their voice, think critically, and act with integrity. We value our partnership with you, our families, in helping every student reach their fullest potential.
Our school fosters a strong sense of self and community where every child feels valued, appreciated, and important. Student leadership is not just a goal; it’s a practice. We encourage you to ask about our students’ community service projects right here in our Mott Haven neighborhood. To provide a truly comprehensive experience, we offer enriching programs like Theatre, Art, Soccer, Music, and Chess, but we also connect directly to our namesake with unique opportunities like a student newspaper and debate club. We can’t wait to see you cheering on our students as they explore their many talents!
Giving our students a platform to be heard is fundamental to who we are. In our daily Community Circles, students discuss issues that matter to them in a safe and supportive space. Academically, we are relentless in our pursuit of excellence. We offer an extended school day, including Early Morning Reading, Afterschool programs, and a Saturday Academy, to ensure every child has the support they need to meet and exceed the Next Generation Learning Standards.
