PS 18 empowers stakeholders through an environment that builds a legacy of communication, commitment and belonging whereby bridging multi-cultural and multi-generational voices with the South Bronx community.
Instructional Focus
Our instructional focus will be on enhancing teachers' ability to use purposeful questioning and model explicit vocabulary to facilitate academic discourse.
The goal is to move beyond basic comprehension and guide students in analyzing texts, developing vocabulary, and connecting ideas across different genres. This will create more opportunities for students to engage in evidence-based discussions and writing, particularly when comparing and contrasting paired texts or problem solving strategies.
